MAC USERS: How to fix "File is damaged" or "Developer cannot be verified"
================================================================================

Hi! If you are on a Mac and your DAW refuses to load Tesseract Echo, or macOS tells you the file is "damaged" and should be moved to the Trash, don't panic! The file is perfectly safe.

WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?
Apple blocks any software downloaded from the internet unless the developer pays for a yearly Apple Developer license. Since Tesseract Echo is a 100% free indie project, I cannot afford this paid license right now. Because of this, macOS automatically puts the downloaded plugin in "Quarantine".

HOW TO FIX IT IN 1 MINUTE (The foolproof method)
The easiest way to bypass this is to remove the quarantine flag using your Mac's Terminal. It sounds complicated, but it's super easy if you follow these steps:

FIX GUIDE
================================================================================
1. Open the Terminal app on your Mac (Press Cmd + Space, type "Terminal" and hit Enter).

2. Copy and paste the following line into the Terminal.
   (IMPORTANT: Make sure to include the blank space at the very end of the line!):

sudo xattr -d -r com.apple.quarantine

3. Open your Mac Finder and locate the plugin you just dragged into your Plug-Ins folder (the item ending in .vst3 or .component)

4. Drag and drop that plugin file directly into the Terminal window. This will magically auto-type the correct file path for you!

   it should look like this: (and works for the .component the same way)
sudo xattr -d -r com.apple.quarantine /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Tesseract_Echo.vst3

5. Hit Enter. The Terminal will ask for your Mac user password. Type it and hit Enter.
(Note: You will not see the characters appearing while you type your password. This is completely normal on a Mac).

Done! You have successfully removed the quarantine.

🎥 VIDEO TUTORIAL (Alternative Method):
If you prefer a visual guide instead of using the Terminal, here is a great 2-minute video showing the alternative method using your Mac's "Privacy and Security" settings:

⚠️ CRUCIAL LAST STEP FOR YOUR DAW:
If your DAW (Ableton, Logic, Cubase, etc.) had already tried to scan the plugin and failed because of Apple's security, it probably put Tesseract Echo in a "Blacklist".
Now that you have fixed the file, you must open your DAW settings and force a RESCAN of your plugins, or clear the plugin cache, to make it appear in your list!

Enjoy the plugin and happy music making!
